With winter arriving, there's the extra consideration of keeping our fairies and princes warm and dry as we're all rushing out the door for school runs, play dates, festive parties, winter holidays and more. When it comes to winter dressing, the Scandinavians have it down to a fine art, combining premium quality clothing with the art of layering... and being prepared!

Start with layers
On winter days, kids will be experience all manner of temperatures all day long from cosy central heating to the cool crisp air of the outdoors. The best way to prevent your little ones from overheating or getting cold is to dress them in layers that can easily be popped on before they go outside and peeled off when they come in. And layers underneath their coats will mean they can play outdoors for longer.

Our Scandi brands use natural fabrics such as 100% soft organic cotton or merino wool so kids’ skin can breathe and they don’t overheat. Base layers such as vests, long sleeved t’s and leggings are your basic essentials. And merino leggings under loose trousers will help keep the warmth in on really icy days, particularly for toddlers and younger children.

Winter knits
Once they’ve got their base layers on, a good winter jumper, cardigan or fleece will keep little ones snug if they’re heading outdoors. Scandi brands such as FUB, Wheat and Ebbe are known for their high quality children’s knitwear. Coat up!
The winter coat is the all-important piece for this season. Get it right by choosing a coat that has been designed with durability, wearability and warmth in mind. We love Danish brand Ver de Terre for their premium quality fabrics and great design. Filled with natural down for warmth, their children's coats are lightweight so kids can do all the important things when outdoors – running, climbing and playing. Waterproof and breathable shell fabric with taped seams keep little ones dry and the snow stopper and inner sleeve cuffs prevent the cold getting in.

And finally… Boots!
Winter simply wouldn't be winter without some rainy days. Cold, damp feet are not a good thing, so keep little toes snug and dry with a really good pair of wellies.
