How to dress babies for hot weather

The soaring temperatures look like they're going to be with us for a while so now is the perfect time to stock up on clothes to keep your little fairies and princes cool.

While it's easier for older kids to cope with the heat by taking layers off, drinking plenty of water and hopping in and out of the sea or pool, it's far more difficult for babies to regulate their core temperatures.

To keep your baby cool in the summer, keep them out of direct sunlight, keep them (and yourself) hydrated, stay inside during the hottest part of the day from 10am-2pm, and dress them in cool, natural materials. Cotton is your best bet for your baby when it's hot outside. Putting them in a light romper will suffice, keeping their legs bare. And a bucket hat is a great addition if you are spending time outside.
